جَاكرْتَا ، أو كما تسمى رسميًا منطقة العاصمة الخاصة جاكرتا، هي عاصمة إندونيسيا وتقع على الساحل الشمالي الغربي لجزيرة جاوة وهي أهم مدنها وأكثرها اكتظاظا بالسكان، حيث يبلغ عدد سكانها 11,350,328 نسمة في 2023، يُقدر عدد سكان منطقة جاكرتا الحضرية بنحو 41.9 مليون نسمة اعتبارًا من عام 2025، مما يجعلها المنطقة الحضرية الأكثر اكتظاظا بالسكان في إندونيسيا وجنوب شرق آسيا والعالم، وتبلغ مساحتها 661 كيلومترا مربعا. تأسست في القرن الرابع، وأصبحت المدينة ميناء تجاريا مهما لمملكة سوندا، وكانت تعرف وقتها باسم «سوندا كيلابا» و«جاياكارتا» (1527-1619) وكانت العاصمة الفعلية للهند الشرقية الهولندية وعرفت وقتها باسم «باتافيا» (1619-1942) وحدثت فيها مجزرة شهيرة قام بها الاحتلال الهولندي ضد الصينيين المقيمين بها في 1740 وهذه المجزرة تُسمى مجزرة باتافيا 1740.
